Today’s Service

Welcome to worship this morning! Service goes live at 9 a.m., and since some have experienced issues with streaming on Facebook, we’ve got a separate feed on YouTube as well:

Seeing as it’s week two of ChurchonMain as ChurchonLine, how do you feel? Is it a little weird to to be “in church” at home? Is it odd celebrating communion that way?

… As strange as it may seem, the combination of the COVID-19 virus and internet technology returns us to the time when ancient Israel celebrated the first Passover in Egypt. There, the family was the church and the kitchen table was where they assembled for worship. Of course they were practicing “shelter in place” for a different reason than us. See Exodus chapter 12 for details.

Then Moses called all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Go and select lambs for yourselves according to your clans, and kill the Passover lamb. Take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and touch the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. None of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning. For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians, and when he sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses to strike you. You shall observe this rite as a statute for you and for your sons forever.

Church onLine

Thanks for joining us in cyberspace this morning! We had a great turnout for our first attempt at online worship, and are excited to see where the Lord leads us. The Youtube version is now uploaded, and considering that we might be doing this for a few weeks, we are looking into ‘best practices’ for future events. Your prayers, support, and feedback are much appreciated.
