The main thing is
Stephen Covey
to keep the main thing
the main thing.
Stephen Covey’s brilliant insight applies to churches as well as successful people. In his letter to the Galatians Paul writes, “far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.” We agree: What happened on the cross is the most important thing that ever happened! The Son of God took the penalty for our sins upon himself and suffered for our sake. He took the blame. He paid the consequences. He won the victory over sin, death, and the devil. After Jesus was raised from the dead, he sent his disciples to go out and share this good news with the whole world, and believers have been doing it ever since. This is the core of our faith — the saving death and resurrection of Jesus Christ — and it is crucial to keep that front and center as we seek to love God and to serve others. That is the main thing, after all.
