Mission 77

State Highway 77

Runs north-south from Waco to Victoria. Along this highway are several LCMC churches, including ours! We’ve got a great relationship going with our sister churches in Victoria (Our Saviour’s Lutheran and First English Lutheran), and now we’ve got a baby sister up in Waco! But Waco needs some help…

THE STORY

Christ Lutheran Church closed its doors after 68 years of ministry, handing over leadership to the LCMC Texas District for the purpose of developing a new worshiping community.

The campus is in a residential neighborhood known as the North Side of Waco, though it’s actually located directly west of Downtown Waco. So it is a good spot for a church plant!

The prayer is for God to use the property to draw people from the neighborhood together and to unite them with Christ. Rev. Chris Meyer and his family have taken the call to do just that.

THE PROBLEM

We’ve got to clean up the mess!

There’s a lot of work to be done to get the campus ready for its new mission. Old furniture, cans of paint, old banner cloths and other paraphernalia need to be organized and the place needs to be set in order.

THE PLAN

We’re having a workday!

Saturday, January 14

We’ll leave church at 9:30 a.m., arriving at the campus in Waco around 11:30, just in time for lunch.

Rev. Chris will introduce us to the vision and let us know what needs cleaning, what needs fixing, and what needs throwing away.

We’ll spend a few hours knocking down the to-do list, pray together, and head back to Giddings.

We need:

  • Drivers
  • Tools (and folks who know how to use them!)
  • Volunteers
